Member of Daughters of Charity - Saint Louise de Marillac Educational System

    Concordia College was founded on May 3, 1868, by a wealthy philanthropist, Doña Margarita Roxas de Ayala. She wrote the queen of Spain, Isabela II, in her own handwriting to ask for “Hijas de la Caridad” to manage a “Escuela Pia” for the poor girls of Paco , Manila. So it was, that on July 22, 1862 fifteen Daughters of Charity arrived in the Philippines after a three months journey from Spain aboard the frigate “Conception”. Six years after, in 1868, the school was officially named COLEGIO DE LA INMACULADA CONCEPCION DE LA CONCORDIA, at the same time that it became the Central House of the Daughters of Charity on the Philippines... more
